Trade bodies greet VAT implementation in Tamil Nadu

Implementation of Value Added Tax (VAT) from next year onward has been welcome by the industry and trade bodies in Tamil Nadu.
M Rafeeque Ahmed, Chairman, Tamil Nadu State Council of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), said that the budget was progressive and industry-friendly.
While hailing the VAT implementation, he went on to say that several suggestions made by FICCI had been accepted by the Government.
Various other bodies such as Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI), Federation of Associations of Small Industries of India, The All India Skin and Hide Tanners and Merchants Association, Tamilnadu Small and Tiny Industries Association and Hindustan Chamber of Commerce have welcome the budget outlining its positive features for their respective sectors.
