On the occasion of the Hungarian National Day on 20 August 2006, at a special event at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Secretary of State Dr. Ábel Garamhegyi presented him with a medal "For Services to the Hungarian Economy", rewarding him for his many years of specialist research and development for the textile industry, and for his successful work at the only textile institute in Hungary to have been ISO 17025 accredited.
After qualifying as a chemical engineer at the Technical University in Budapest, between 1974 and 1990 Pál Pataki was first employed at the Hungarian Institute for Quality Control in the Textile Industry (TEXIMEI), where from 1981 he was in charge of the chemical testing department.

Since 1991, Pál Pataki has been Director of the Innovatext institute and since then has made an important contribution to the continuous expansion of its research activities and wide range of testing services.
He was also responsible for the testing institute becoming a member, 12 years ago now, of the International Oeko-Tex Association (testing textiles for harmful substances under the Oeko-Tex Standard 100) and for Innovatext joining the Hohenstein Institutes Group in Bönnigheim, in June 2004.
