Government to approve 4 new textile parks before Feb 2007

Shankersinh Vaghela, Textile Minister, informed that 26 textile parks have been approved under Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks (SITP) till now and four new parks will be approved before February next year as Government faces pressure for 50 new ones. Total number of parks will become 30.

Vaghela was speaking to officials of Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) post release of its 'vision statement for 2012'. Grant for infrastructure development at these parks is given under SITP.

He added that the judgment for raising number of textile parks further would be taken after analyzing performance of existing parks.

Vaghela conveyed that he would forward the matter of extending TUFS beyond March next year to Finance Ministry and Planning Commission.
