“A world of suffering goes into even the tiniest bit of fur trim,” says PETA campaign coordinator Matt Rice. “Because most people today oppose the cruelty to animals that fur represents, removing fur from all Liz Claiborne brands is good for the bottom line as well as for animals.”
This is not the first time that PETA has approached Liz Claiborne about animal welfare. The group previously succeeded in convincing Liz Claiborne to source nearly 100 percent of its merino wool from outside Australia, where the backsides of lambs are mutilated in a procedure called 'mulesing.' PETA also persuaded Liz Claiborne to drop a Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey promotion after pointing out the circus's long history of cruelty to animals.
