The Confederation of Indian Textile Industry's Cotton Development and Research Association (CITI-CDRA) under the Chairmanship of Shri P. D. Patodia, is vigorously implementing Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) under M.M.II of Technology Mission on Cotton (TMC) with assistance from the Government of India in Vidarbha Region of Maharashtra for the third consecutive year.
During the current season, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India has allocated 1100 FLDs on Production Technologies to CITI-CDRA. In addition 2 FLDs on Integrated Pest management have been allocated to it. In implementing the above an expenditure of Rs.24.00 lakhs is expected to be incurred.
The CITI-CDRA has taken up the FLD Programme for both Production Technology and IPM in Buldhana District of Vidarbha Region of Maharashtra The FLDs on Production Technology will be demonstrated in 4 Villages i.e. Shelapur, Pimpri Gawli, Talani, and Talkhed in Motada Tehasil of Buldhana District. The FLDs on IPM will be demonstrated in two villages i.e. Tarad Khed and Gummi Villages of Buldhana Taluka.
Under FLDs for Production Technologies, 1100 Farmers would be eligible to receive input subsidy in the form of Inputs to the extent of Rs.1400/- per acre. Each farmer would get the benefit for One acre only.
The farmers identified for participation in the above FLD Programme include the farmers belonging to weaker sections of the Society and Women, apart from the general farmers as per the guidelines issued by the GOI.
The Programme aims at improving the cotton yield and reducing the cost of cultivation through transfer of modern production technologies. During the past five years, CITI-CDRA has successfully created increased awareness among all concerned regarding problems on cotton front to facilitate enhancing productivity and production of cotton as also improving its quality.
The CITI-CDRA, through its Extension Activities has contributed its mite to improve Productivity and Quality evident during the past three years.
The participating farmers will be supplied high quality inputs like Fertilizers, Pesticides, Micro Nutrients, etc. Kissan Melas, Field Demonstrations and Training to Farmers are organized.
