More than 330 German exhibitors to present at ITMA

The German textile machinery industry presents itself in excellent condition at the industry's leading fair ITMA, running from September 13th to 20th in Munich. "Being the export world champion for over 50 years, the German textile machinery business performed extremely well in the first half of the ITMA year 2007.

Textile machinery and accessories worth 1.9 billion Euro were shipped abroad from January to June", explained Thomas Waldmann, Managing Director of the VDMA textile machinery association.

"This is an increase of exports of 15.5 percent compared to the respective period in 2006." With an export share of 95 percent, the textile machinery branch is the biggest exporter of all machinery builders.

High demand for spinning machinery:
The biggest increase was marked in the spinning machinery sector. Exports of spinning machinery rose by 39 percent to 776 million Euro. The second biggest plus was realised in exports of weaving machinery that increased by 19.3 percent to 191 million Euro.

Exports of knitting, hosiery and similar machinery reached a value of 639 million Euro while finishing machinery inclusive washing and bleaching and dyeing technologies worth 292 million Euro were exported.

With a market share of 25 percent, China is still the number one destination for German textile technology. In the first half of 2007 exports to the People's Republic reached a value of 477 million Euro.

The top five is completed by Turkey with exports worth 172 million Euro which is an increase of 63 percent, India (154 million), Italy (97 million) and the United States (91 million).
