The cotton quotations increased continuously in the week under report and in comparison with the relevant day the past week ranged by some 3.5 US-dollar cents higher. The Cotlook A Index went up by 2.25 cent/lb in the same period. Offers for cotton from the new crop could hardly be obtained from the countries of origin or they were extremely high.
Available cotton from the old crop is absolutely rare in the required qualities. As consequence, mill enquiries led just in few cases to the conclusion of new contracts. Buyers obviously preferred to wait for a downwards correction of prices, if possible.

In the ELS/LS range, a sale of Sudan Barakat cotton for the 2nd quarter 2008 was registered.
