Messe Frankfurt India has announced the arrival of its world famous apparel textiles fair, 'Texworld India', in the nation's textile capital Mumbai from 10 - 13 Oct 2006.

'Texworld' is the globally recognized brand name from Messe Frankfurt's stable of international textile fairs. Created for, and ardently supported by the global apparel industry, it is one of the world's undisputed leaders among the international clothing fabric fairs.

Texworld India is slated to add a new and exciting chapter to the textile story that Messe Frankfurt started with the Indian textile industry over two decades ago.

Messe Frankfurt with its well respected textile events like Interstoff and Heimtextil in Frankfurt, was greatly influential in contributing to the growth of the Indian textile industry, by welcoming Indian manufacturers to its fairs more than two decades ago.

The Indian apparel industry is now a force to reckon with. India is one of the few countries in the world that is vertically integrated from raw material to finished products, which cover fibre production, spinning, weaving, knitting and apparel manufacture. India also has the ability to service high-value niche orders with its high levels of creativity and design resources.

Mrs Shammi Nagpal, Managing Director Messe Frankfurt India and Regional Director Asia Pacific, said, "In a quota free world, no one doubts that textile production will eventually become Asia centric."

"India occupies a leading position in the world as a manufacturer of a wide variety of apparel textile products. The Indian textile industry occupies an important place in the economy of the country because of its contribution to the industrial output, employment generation and foreign exchange earnings. Moreover, domestic demand for clothing and high fashion is at an all time high, with the Indian consumer becoming wealthier and more brand conscious. The demand for textiles in urban India (33 percent of the population) is growing at 8 percent per year. The estimated growth in fashion and luxury textiles in the Indian market alone is pegged at US $ 218 million by 2010," she said.
