The national voice of Australian woolgrowers, WoolProducers, will endorse the incumbent directors of the industry research and development corporation Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) at the upcoming board elections.
The three directors standing for re-election that will be supported by WoolProducers are Dr Chris Abell, Mr Wal Merriman and Mr Brian van Rooyen.
"WoolProducers has decided to support the three incumbent directors in their bid to be re-elected to the board," said WoolProducers President Mr Robert Pietsch.
"A combination of the individual skills of the candidates, their contribution to the company so far and what we believe they can achieve in the future has led us to endorse the three current directors that are up for re-election."
"However, it is also fair to say that we have very high expectations about what these and the other current directors will deliver over the coming year."
"Growers by no means see AWI as being at its peak just yet." "There are a number of key areas that WoolProducers will be working on with AWI on behalf of growers and we are hoping for positive outcomes in the year ahead."
"Whilst the recent review of performance suggested that there has been some success in delivering returns to growers from the on-farm portfolio, we are yet to see any return from demand creation activities such as the B2B strategy, for example."
"This new direction for marketing that the company has taken is exciting and appears promising but it must be translated into results."
