R&R package for PAPs by MSEZ

Mumbai Special Economic Zone (MSEZ) Company has declared its Relief and Rehabilitation (R&R) package for the project affected persons (PAPs) in Raigad district, offering them unparalleled monetary benefits and career opportunities.

Reiterating that no physical displacement will be caused by its project since none of the 45 gaothans (villages) are going to be acquired, MSEZ said the PAPs will be given 12.5 % developed land, a handsome compensation at market rates for their lands, assurance of a job after successful completion of training and 2 years' sustenance payment for landless labourers and in addition upgradation of the village infrastructure by spending around Rs. 90 crores over 45 villages would be also undertaken.

R&R package will become applicable as soon as the Company gets possession of land on declaration of award by the District Collector. Already, the Company has signed a MoU with the Maharashtra Government regarding the rehabilitation and relief to the PAPs. This MoU will be complied with.

Under the 12.5 percent Developed Land Scheme, MSEZ will allocate 12.5 percent developed land in proportion of the original land holding to the legal land holder. This will be done at a price to be determined by the state government. Such lands will become permanent sources of income for the Project Affected Families (PAFs).

In case a land holder opts for the monetary compensation option, (in lieu of 12.5% developed land) he would receive Rs.5 lakh per acre of land originally sold as one-time down payment or Rs.5000 per month for lifetime.
