A delegation of the world's largest toy maker Mattel USA visited China State General Administration of Quality Supervision. Company's Vice President apologized for the three worldwide recalls of Chinese-made-toys since August this year, because of problems with their own designs.

Mattel's global Business Executive Vice President Mr Tom said, “We expressed regret to Secretary Li Changjiang, China, and Chinese consumers for the three recall incidents. We have found problems with our own designs among the recalled toys. They have nothing to do with China.”

Tom said, as the world's largest toy manufacturer, Mattel annually produces nearly 800 million toys, of which 65 percent are made in China. In the three recall accidents, 17.4 million toys were recalled for magnet problem, and this was actually a design problem on Mattel's own part, it had nothing to do with Chinese manufacturers. Therefore, Mattel did not request Chinese manufacturers to take responsibility for the recalled toys.

Mattel said, after entering China for 25 years, they always maintained very good relations and cooperation with Chinese manufacturers. Mattel would insist on using higher safety standards. Regarding some toy problems that might arise, Mattel would establish a timely information notification system with the State General Administration of Quality Supervision.

From August 1 to September 9 this year, Mattel USA announced three worldwide recalls of over 21 million toys made in China. Yesterday, the president of the State Administration of Quality Supervision Li Changjiang expressed appreciated Mattel's attitude in taking its responsibility. He said, at the same time, China would also increase supervision over the enterprises in toy production.
