Franz Markus as new Chairman of METRO Supervisory Board

The Supervisory Board of METRO AG elected Mr Franz Markus Haniel (52) as the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board. His predecessor, Dr. Eckhard Cordes, switched to and chairs the Management Board of METRO AG since 1 November 2007.
METRO Group is one of the most important international retailing companies. In 2006 the group reached sales of about € 60 billion.
The company has a headcount of some 270,000 employees and operates about 2,400 outlets in 31 countries.
