Bedding accessories and foams marketer Pacific Brands Limited (Pacific Brands) announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire the Australian and international operations of Sheridan (Sheridan) from CHAMP Private Equity.
Completion is expected to occur within a week. Sheridan's two iconic brands, Sheridan and Actil, are the number one and two consumer brands in the premium bed linen market in Australia. Sheridan is also a leading brand in the pillows, quilts and towels categories.
Commenting on the acquisition, Pacific Brands' CEO Mr Paul Moore said that they are very pleased to have acquired Sheridan, which is one of the most recognisable brands in Australia. The acquisition fits their strategy of being a marketer of category leading, everyday essential brands.
It will create a powerful, branded bed and bedding accessories business for Pacific Brands with leading category positions in Australia and New Zealand. The Sheridan and Actil brands will complement their Sleepmaker, Tontine and licensed Esprit brands in their Home Comfort Group.
Sheridan designs, sources and distributes high quality bed linen and towel products primarily to the consumer market. The company has embarked on a strategy to transform itself from a locally based manufacturer to a brand manager and distributor focused on Australian and selected international markets. Pacific Brands will use its marketing and sourcing expertise to complete this transformation.
