Nuance-Watson HK & Nuance Sweden victorious at DFNI Global Awards

Nuance-Watson (Hong Kong) was the big winner at the 2009 DFNI Global Awards for Travel-Retail Excellence and was awarded both the "Travel Retailer of the Year" and "Airport Travel Retailer of the Year" trophies. The Nuance Group (Sweden) received the award for "Best New Shop Opening" for its Stockholm-Arlanda mega store opened in December 2008.

The winners of the 2009 DFNI Global Awards for Travel-Retail Excellence were announced at the DFNI Charity Ball on February 27 in London. As in previous years, the awards for "Travel Retailer of the Year" and "Airport Travel Retailer of the Year" were bestowed following a vote by suppliers in the travel-retail business.

Alessandra Piovesana, Nuance-Watson Regional Managing Director for North Asia said: "We are overwhelmed with the winning of both top global accolades as the nominees we were up against are among the world's leading travel retailers. We are delighted to be so recognized by our business community and we thank all our business partners and the airport authority for their continued trust and support."

"Being named 'Travel Retailer of the Year' is particularily meaningful because this comprises our total operation, which has extended beyond our base at Hong Kong International Airport to other locations in the region. The award for "Best New Shop Opening" recognised the achievements of The Nuance Group in opening its Tax Free Store at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, the largest airport store in the world and the new showcase operation for The Nuance Group's approach to core category retailing.

Speaking on behalf of The Nuance Group Sweden, General Manager Karl Walter said: "This shop opening was the result of more than two years of research and development and intensive work on category management. Throughout the process, we worked closely with our airport partner ASDC. Thanks to our committed team which worked tirelessly to make this happen, we actually managed a perfect start-up for this huge operation. This award is a welcome appreciation of everybody's efforts."
