S Kumars Nationwide Ltd (SKNL) goes for the expansion and diversification by injecting about Rs 400 crore in the next four years.
SKNL announced plans to invest Rs 90 crore in Reid & Taylor, Rs 80 crore in home textiles and Rs 130 crore in high value fine cotton shirting, in an official communication sent to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
Internal accruals and equity related investments or Foreign Currency Convertible Bonds and Global Depository Receipts would contribute to towards this investment.
Expansion entails adding new showrooms up from 16 to 200 and retail outlets up from 5800 to 11,000 by 2008.
Promotion of Reid & Taylor brand and strengthening Tamarind brand for men's garments will be part of the agenda.
Joint ventures with international brands are also under consideration, company sources said.
