Even as the the EU and Chinese representatives are discussing over the held Chinese textile shipments at several European ports, the Chinese Commerce Minister Bo Xilai expressed confidence over resolution of the vexxed issue.

He expressed hope that negotiators will find solution soon while speaking to the audio visual media.

Meanwhile, Modint, the Dutch retail trade association, Dutch EVO, representative 30,000 strong Dutch shippers and transporters in trade, construction, industry, the agricultural sector and business services and VIVO representing Far East importers have hauled the Netherlands to court, seeking compensation for the seized imports from China worth €100 million.

Customs court of Haarlem has received the petition for allowing release of 70 million pieces of pullovers and trousers from Dutch ports.

Next step, according to Modint Director General Han Bekke, is to approch the European Court of Justice (ECJ) in the coming two weeks and hoping to enjoin the Dutch government as a party to the June quota agreement.

Not to be left behind, the British Retail Consortium (BRC) says several UK retailers are planning to take a legal recourse to get hold of stuck Chinese apparel and textile imports, as delays bring in fears of scarcity and price hike in these products.

Another worry on hand for the retailers is that Custom warehouses have been charging them for the impounded pullovers at the rate of €1.5 million a day and adding up.
