Saudi Global Ports (SGP), a subsidiary of Singapore-based port operator PSA International, and Saudi Arabia's Mawani have signed a groundbreaking agreement to establish an integrated logistics zone spanning approximately 1 million square metres at the strategic King Abdulaziz Port, Dammam.

The landmark deal was signed in the presence of Saudi Arabia's minister for transport and logistic services, HE Saleh Al Jasser, and Singapore's minister for manpower and second minister for trade and industry, Dr Tan See Leng. The signing took place alongside an official visit by Singapore prime minister Lee Hsien Loong to Saudi Arabia.

The logistics zone aims to transform Dammam Seaport into a state-of-the-art, sustainable and resilient transport and logistics hub serving both the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and beyond. Plans for the zone include the establishment of bonded warehouses and modern cold storage facilities, SGP said in a LinkedIn post.

In line with global initiatives to combat climate change, the logistics zone will incorporate sustainability features such as the use of hybrid and electric equipment as well as solar panels. These elements highlight a joint commitment between SGP and Mawani to environmental stewardship while advancing logistics capabilities in the region.
