AmSafe Bridport's confidence in its 9g barrier nets is rooted in more than just its unrivalled experience in textiles. The company's engineering facilities in the UK, USA and Sri Lanka also boast the most sophisticated engineering and design capabilities, with complex loads analysis tools and modelling software, including PAM Crash. This is a unique tool, which has been designed for large deflection, non-linear analysis of complex textile elements where conventional finite element analysis packages cannot be relied upon. No other cargo company has such a capability.

One of the real keys to the company's success says Goodman has been its willingness to share its data. “My customers – whether OEMs, converters or operators, are engineers. Whilst they each have their own unique design and approval concerns, all any of them wants is substantiated evidence to prove that not only can a 9g net be designed to fit their specific aircraft configurations, it can provide the greatest payload volume with the least weight and cost. This is where our unique design tools give us our competitive advantage. They allow our specialist engineers to easily analyse and calculate the optimum barrier design for every freighter configuration and provide full support data to our customers.”

Goodman admits that when AmSafe Bridport first began to market its barrier net range five years ago, the company did encounter some concerns that 9g barrier nets were not as safe or desirahas been its willingness to share its data. “My customers – whether OEMs, converters or operators, are engineers.
