Lectra, the software and CAD/CAM equipment supplier, has signed €5 million deal with Johnson Controls in Europe, expanding its already-large installed base of Lectra CAD/CAM technologies into new emerging automotive markets.
Johnson Controls is one of the world's leading suppliers of automotive interior systems, employing 32,000 people in 100 locations throughout Europe and offering a broad range of interior technologies and systems to all major vehicle manufacturers. This investment represents a significant milestone in the worldwide auto industry, in which the increasing demand for production flexibility is a strategic necessity for automotive systems providers.
Johnson Controls' choice of Lectra's new VectorAuto MP9 confirms both its confidence in the company's cutting technology and the long-term relationship it shares with Lectra, which is uniquely positioned to provide customers with leading-edge technologies to remain on top in a competitive industry.
Lectra's VectorAuto MP9 is ideal for high-volume cutting of a wide variety of automotive materials, providing unequalled precision and productivity despite the complex geometry associated with automotive patterns.
The VectorAuto MP9 offers all the production flexibility needed to adapt to the broad variety of models and options offered by today's automotive manufacturers, with state-of-the-art software to continuously optimize cutting conditions and strategy.
Johnson Controls uses Lectra cutting room solutions at most of its plants in Europe. The company realizes the productivity and performance of Lectra's cutting technology dedicated to mass production, and asked Lectra to develop a high-performance solution. Lectra R&D teams responded by completing the development of the VectorAuto MP9. Johnson Controls purchased four machines in 2004 to supplement die cutting processes in its Romanian and Portuguese locations.
