In this way a clear separation of the activities in the different industry areas became possible, a precondition for the specific participation of different partners in just as different business areas. As Küsters CEO Dr. Erich W. Bröker states: “We follow the primary aim of creating industrial framework conditions for the individual Küsters business fields which best support their successful continued existence.

Whereas, in view of intensifying global competition, a certainly painful restructuring step was unavoidable. The tie-up with Andritz opens up a markedly broadened market access with the corresponding positive expectations for the business volume in Krefeld.” However, according to the CEO the precondition is that the restructuring of the textile business is completed, factually and legally.

After restructuring the new enterprise in Krefeld with approximately 500 employees will achieve an annual turnover of 70 to 80 m. Euros. With a view to the takeover by Jagenberg Bröker sums up: “With the participation of Andritz the circle closes, so to speak. Still in the course of the shareholder change we had set our aim on finding new strategic partners who, in the long run, would support our activities. With the participation of Jagenberg and Andritz we have succeeded.”

The Küsters Group is now postioned better than ever before. “We assume”, states the Küsters CEO, “that we have now strategically safeguarded the Krefeld location specialised in the paper and nonwoven business and realigned it to growth.” The joint use of available sales structures as well as special competences of Küsters and Andritz will improve the competitive edge of the partners. Dr. Bröker explains that one can already see by way of a few examples that this cooperation is functioning.

“At present a joint project is already ongoing with regard to retrofitting a paper machine for the customer UMKA in Serbia. And in France we are bidding for the complete retrofitting of a paper machine.” Reason enough for all involved to expect the new constellation to be beneficial.
