Annual ACIMIT Foundation Awards presented to textile technology students

During an award ceremony at the head offices of the ACIMIT Foundation, ACIMIT President Dr. Paolo Banfi and ACIMIT Director, Mr. Federico Pellegata, handed over 5 grants with a value of € 800 each to a total of 16 students from Italian colleges of textile technology, winners of the annual ACIMIT Foundation Awards for research into issues of relevance to the textile machinery industry.

It is meaningful that the main part of the granted researches concern the area interested by the major perspectives of growth: the technical and innovative textiles.

For the next ACIMIT Foundation Awards 2006/2007 two important innovations are foreseen. On the one hand, it will be addressed also to students of the last academic year of the Italian Universities with textile engineering faculties (obvoiusly the evaluation of the researches will be different).

On the other hand, the awards will no longer be cash, but they will consist in a three-day trip to Munich, in occasion of ITMA 2007, that will allow the awarded students to get in touch with the technological “top” of the italian and world-wide textile machinery industry directly.

ACIMIT's work with colleges is not limited to these grants, but includes the preparation and distribution to students of a series of publications covering the whole Italian textile manufacturing technology (Italy's textile machinery industry employs a workforce of 23,000 with a turnover of 2.6 billion Euros in 2005, making it the second largest in the world after Germany).
