Four long service awards were recently presented by SATRA. Between them, Sue Winckle, David McKeown, Mike George and Sue Clayton have clocked up an amazing 115 years of service at the technology centre.
Sue Winckle's extensive knowledge has enabled SATRA to take on work involving consumer products such as leathergoods, luggage, upholstery, shoe polishes and horse blankets.
David McKeown was involved in developing the first PPE test equipment at SATRA, including the chainsaw and chain mail test rigs and has worked more recently on SATRA's Instrumented Dummy (SID).
Mike George helped to develop a test to measure slip resistance, studying frictional forces in walking and the effects of sole pattern design, as well as contributing significantly to the development of new tests unique to SATRA.
Sue Clayton has worked in the materials and apparel business area and currently evaluates furniture upholstery and footwear consumer complaints.
Such experience and accumulated knowledge is of tremendous value in serving SATRA's customers around the world and puts the technology centre at the forefront of consumer products testing.
