The opening of a new auction centre in Melbourne has raised furore among nation's wool traders, as sales begin again after the winter recess this week.
Since last year, Australian Wool Handlers, controlled by Landmark and Elders, has been running parallel marketing system in competition with the Australian Wool Exchange.
Earlier, the selling system was residing within the AWEX building but now, it has established a separate facility - the reason that infuriates independent exporters.
Southern region manager for Itochu, Chris Kelly informed that many are intending to boycott the new service.
The wool traders are still quite infuriated and irritated about the entire situation and will be deciding on the line of action to be taken, Kelly added
However, the national wool manager with Elders, Mark Rodda explained that the raised competition has already cut down service fees, which are definitely an important to boost the industry.
