China's EU textile exports up in 8-months says AWI

Australian Wool Innovation Limited (AWI) informed the Chinese textile exports results for EU.
It stated that China increased the amount of textiles it exports to the EU by about 40 percent in the first eight months of the year.
The EU's total textile imports were only up by 2.1 percent in value and 2 percent in volume, however, meaning China's growth has come at the expense of other countries.
The figures highlight the fact that developing countries are suffering as a result of the removal of textile quotas between WTO nations at the beginning of the year. However, they show that dire predictions of the market being flooded with cheap Chinese imports haven't materialised.
Chinese imports into the EU grew by 43.9 percent in value and 39.9 percent in volume for the first eight months. Of the countries worst hit by China's dominance, Myanmar and the Philippines have seen their exports fall by 54.4 percent and 41.4 percent, respectively, in value during the period. South Korean exports fell by 28.6 percent, Thailand's by 15.1 percent, Pakistan's by 16.3 percent and Bangladesh's by 9.3 percent.
Imports from African, Caribbean and Pacific nations that have received preferential trade treatment fell by 24 percent in value and 28.1 percent in volume.
