Womenswear brand – Deal mulls setting up EBOs

Deal – The Mumbai based womenswear and kids brand is mulling setting up exclusive brand outlets (EBOs) beginning with Mumbai and later in cities of Northern India. It is also planning to strengthen its retail network by making its products available in more multi brand outlets (MBOs).
Deal Clothing set up, way back in 2000, started off as a jeans brand in the initial years. Gradually the company introduced other product categories like women's tops and shirts. Later on it moved in to clothing for young girls – 'Deal Kids'.
The brand is currently available in over 1,500 MBOs across India and also in large format stores like Globus. Deal foresees itself as a one-stop brand for women, with not only clothing but accessories too.
The brand caters to the age group from six years and onwards, but basically targets the youth. However, Deal would not like to restrict its customer's according to age groups and would rather consider all women who wish to dress up fashionably, as its audience.
In the winter gone-by, the brand introduced a couple of new products like jackets, over coats, cardigans, etc. which will be its new range in the winter collection.
Providing details of their expansion plans to fibre2fashion, Mr Samir Patel, Managing Director - Deal Clothing Company said, “Early, this year, we will be setting up EBOs, beginning with Mumbai”.
He continued, “Once the Mumbai EBOs are up and running, we will be looking forward to expanding to a couple of metros. Our presence in the north is quite strong so we will be setting up stores in Delhi and Punjab and then slowly spreading our presence to other regions”.
“We are not in a rush to expand and wish to go ahead slowly; so we are looking at opening 4-5 EBOs in a quarter and increase the count gradually. We are also getting into large format stores. We are already available in Globus and now we are trying to get into more such large format stores”, he winded up by saying.
