Sportsgirl, the Australian apparel retailer, has launched “Window Shop”, the brand's new digital concept aimed at providing an integrated shopping experience.
The first of the many Window Shops that the retailer plans to set up has opened in Melbourne. The Window Shop has interactive shopping billboards featuring images of key fashion items.
Shoppers can purchase any of the items by scanning the barcode of the product that they want to purchase through their iPhones or iPads. The quick response (QR) code then takes the customer directly to the retailer's mobile store, where they can purchase the product with the click of a button.
The company home delivers the products 24-hours a day and also includes a special gift with each mobile order.
The aim of the new method of purchasing is to bring Sportsgirl's products to all areas.
In fashion and apparel industry, the concept of virtual billboards was first used by online fashion retailer Netaporter.com at a London shop last year.
