The Bolivian Strategic National Public Textile Enterprise (Enatex), formed in June last year to safeguard the Bolivian textile industry, has released the first line of innerwear, at a ceremony in La Paz, attended by the country’s vice president Alvaro Garcia Linera.

The Minister of Production Teresa Morales said the new line ‘Dressing with Dignity’ is made of 100 percent cotton, which is soft and comfortable.

He said the state-run company would launch another six lines in the coming days – kidswear, casualwear, sportswear, pajamas, infantwear and cultural lines – at fortnightly intervals.

Initially, Enatex would sell 38,000 garments from the new line in the domestic market and export another 70,000 garments to Cuba.

The Minister said the second production would have at least 175,000 pieces for the domestic market.

Alejandro Zarate, manager of Enatex, said the company has the ability to produce good quality garments. He said the first priority of the company is to sell in the domestic market, and then export the remaining products – all made with 100 percent cotton.
