My Vintage Baby realizes benefits of cost saving measures

My Vintage Baby Inc, a public children's apparel company, reported that it has been able to lower price points and enhance quality, while improving overall margins.

“We are delighted that our successful business planning has given us a competitive edge during these challenging times. Initiatives to reduce costs and improve quality are really paying off,” stated Jessica Wiswall, MVBY CEO.

Outsourcing distribution to our national distributor, Central Falls, has allowed MVBY to cut warehouse space in half, reducing rental expenses. Central Falls has virtually eliminated customer returns due to shipment errors, realizing significant cost savings for MVBY, as well as improved retailer satisfaction.

Individual suppliers are no longer creating patterns and samples. Instead, MVBY's new full time patternmaker sends suppliers samples of finished garments along with the patterns. These measures have also sharply reduced returns and greatly enhanced customer satisfaction.

These improvements have drawn the attention of MVBY customers ordering the Fall 2009 line.

The Fall J Collection for boys has seen a 70% increase in orders from fall '08 to fall '09. “Though currently a small portion of overall sales, we are very encouraged by our venture into Boys' fashions. The lower price points and our original designs are undoubtedly boosting sales in this area,” stated Jessica Wiswall, CEO.

Marci Siler of Lil' Rascals Boutique stated, “My Vintage Baby Fall '09 line is the best yet! The vibrant colors, attention to detail, along with the price are most impressive. The line definitely stands out among its competitors with its unique look. It is a line customers ask for by name.”
