IZOD to sponsor Monmouth Park's Signature Race

Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation announced that its IZOD brand has assumed the title sponsorship of Monmouth Park Racetrack's signature race - the newly renamed $1,000,000 IZOD Haskell Invitational. IZOD will also sponsor the upcoming IZOD 50-Day $50 Million Dollar Meet at the track.

Monmouth Park's 50-Day $50 Million Dollar Meet gets underway on Saturday, May 22 and ends on Labor Day, September 6. The $1 million IZOD Haskell Invitational, which was captured by Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra in 2009, will be run this year on Sunday, August 1. During the course of the Meet, IZOD's involvement will be seen through on-site signage at Monmouth Park, on the track's race simulcasts and on its website, as well as through promotional activities.

"We're honored that this nationally renowned icon in fashion has teamed with us as we present world-class thoroughbred racing at the Jersey Shore."

The sponsorship by Phillips-Van Heusen follows a series of recent similar decisions to shift IZOD's marketing mix towards sports and sponsorship activation. IZOD has been a sponsor of the New Jersey Nets since 2006 and, in 2007, IZOD was awarded the naming rights for the sports and entertainment arena at the Meadowlands in New Jersey, where the Nets then played, renaming it the IZOD Center. Phillips-Van Heusen's efforts helped lift the IZOD Center to become the fourth-ranked venue of its kind in North America in 2008. In November 2009, PVH announced a six-year agreement with the Indy Racing League as the title sponsor of the newly named IZOD IndyCar Series. The sponsorship expanded the July 2008 agreement with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indy Racing League that designated the IZOD brand as the official apparel sponsor of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights. In this capacity, PVH provides apparel to IRL executives and crew - from pit officials and track flagmen, to the on-air broadcast talent and track announcers.
