Exports from the Vietnamese textile and apparel industry have been on an upswing since the beginning of the year. In the month of June 2010, the sector shipped goods totaling to US $850 million.
In the first six months of 2010, exports from the industry reached $4.85 billion, which is higher by 17.2 percent, when compared with the same period of the previous year and is well on its way to completing its annual target.
The markets of US and Japan continue to remain the largest export destination for products from the textile and garment industry. Exports to the US ascended by 23.8 percent year-on-year to touch $2.20 billion.
While in Japanese market, they surged by 12 percent year-on-year. Exports to China, Taiwan, Korea and ASEAN countries also increased. It is worthy to note that, Vietnamese textiles and apparel have cornered 2.7 percent of the world market.
