The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) applauded the passage of Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010 (H.R. 4853). This bipartisan legislation would extend tax cuts put into place during the Bush Administration as well as extend unemployment benefits. H.R. 4853 passed the House on December 16, 2010 by a vote of 277 to 148 and passed the Senate on December 15, 2010 by a vote of 81 to 19.

“I applaud President Barack Obama, the House of Representatives, and the Senate for efforts to extend much needed tax cuts that are vital to the health and strength of the U.S. apparel and footwear industry and the entire U.S. economy,” said AAFA President and CEO Kevin M. Burke. “This legislation, once signed by President Obama, extends valuable research and development tax credits, renews business and hiring incentives, and eases individual income and payroll taxes.”
