Bangladeshi clothing exports post exemplary growth

Overall Bangladeshi exports grew by 40.28 percent during July 2010 to February 2011, over corresponding period of previous fiscal.
The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) revealed that, the country's exports for the period under review grew from $10.31 billion to $14.08 billion, this year.
In the month of February alone, exports registered a year on year rise of 43.33 percent to grow to $1.89 billion.
A considerable rise was witnessed in exports of key items like jute and jute products, knitwear, home textile, woven garments, and leather products during the initial eight months of the current financial year that begun on July 1, 2010.
Knitwear sector, with a year on year rise of 43.93 percent stood out to be the major export revenue generating sector with revenues worth $5.8 billion, while woven garments' revenues too surged by 37.95 percent to $ 5.13 billion.
EPB had fixed the export target for the current fiscal year at $18.5 billion, which is 14.16 percent higher than the last year's $16.2 billion.
Jute and jute product exports from the country grew by 51.04 percent to $734.39 million during the initial eight months of current fiscal as over the corresponding period of last fiscal.
