Champion Certified Support Rating based on Proprietary Research & Testing

For most women, figuring out if that new sports bra will deliver the right support means a few jumping jacks in the dressing room or the more common and expensive process of basic trial and error. Now, Champion is taking the guesswork out of support with its Certified Support Rating for each sports bra it sells. Every Champion sports bra carries a tag certifying that the style has been tested and approved for its specific support rating.

“The Champion Certified Support Rating gives a woman an extra element of confidence that the Champion sports bra she is purchasing is not only appropriate for her particular workout activity, but will deliver the right amount of support,” said Kathy Hare, senior manager, Champion Women's. “No piece of workout equipment is as important as her sports bra and no one understands how to ban the bounce better than Champion.”

The Champion Certified Support Rating is based on the brand's proprietary system for measuring support called Motion Control Requirements (MCR), one of the industry's first research-based product development processes pioneered by the Champion research team in 1987. Each Champion sports bra is rigorously tested and given an MCR rating correlating to the level of support Medium, High and Max. Sports bra designs are motion-analyzed on real women with workouts ranging from yoga to running to ensure motion-control standards are met. Once through the testing process, the sports bra is tagged and certified for its specific level of support.

“At Champion, we understand the importance of accurately communicating and delivering the support she needs,” said Hare. “Since the introduction of the first Jogbra 34 years ago, Champion has focused on engineering the perfect sports bra for every size woman and every type of workout.”

And, support is the critical purchase factor for most women when selecting a sports bra. According to a recent online survey conducted by Champion, close to 60 percent of respondents identified Not Enough Support as their No. 1 sports bra pet peeve followed by No Shaping/Uni-boob and Chafing.

“Nothing is more disheartening during a workout than a sports bra that is not doing its job,” said Hare. “And, most women would be surprised to learn that more support does not necessarily mean more compression – it is about engineering all of the components so that each is part of the overall support solution.

“Our Champion Certified Support Rating ensures that every woman can find the right sports bra that fits her body and activity level,” said Hare. “At Champion, we want a woman to know there is a perfect sports bra out there for her.”
