Editor-in-Chief of American Vogue Anna Wintour will present Marc Jacobs with the 2010 FIAF Trophee des Arts on Thursday, December 9th, 2010, at The Plaza in New York.

The Trophee des Arts Gala will also award the Pilier d'Or to Total Chairman and CEO Christophe de Margerie.

"To have Anna Wintour present this award to Marc Jacobs, an iconic American designer, is truly a testament to his global contributions to the world of French fashion," says FIAF President Marie-Monique Steckel. "The presentation is certain to be a highlight of this gala evening."

The Trophee des Arts distinguishes an artist or a cultural icon who has exemplified FIAF's mission of French-American friendship and cross-cultural exchange. It was created in 1992 and has since been bestowed upon French and American artists and cultural icons, including Lauren Bacall, Isabelle Huppert, James Ivory, Quincy Jones, Christian Lacroix, Louis Malle, Philippe de Montebello, Charlie Rose, and Robert Wilson.

The Pilier d'Or recognizes a leading business figure, diplomat or philanthropist for outstanding contributions to the French-American Community. Former honorees include Bertrand Collomb (Lafarge), Pierre Bellon (Sodexo), Jean-Bernard Levy (Vivendi), and Bernard Poussot (Wyeth).

"Marc Jacobs and Christophe de Margerie have each created a new and lasting bridge between America and France and then again with France and America respectively," explains Marie-Monique Steckel. "And building cultural and linguistic bridges between these two countries has always been the ambition of the French Institute-Alliance Francaise in New York City."

This annual benefit is hosted by chairman Lorenzo D. Weisman to raise funds to support FIAF's educational and cultural programs. Hosts include Kate Bouquard, Daniel Colon, Muffy Flouret, Nathalie Kaplan, Comtesse Elisabeth de Kergorlay, Clemence von Mueffling, and Marie-Noelle Pierce. Some of the members of the young chair committee will don Marc Jacobs' latest creations.

Founded in 1898, French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF) is the leading French language and cultural center in the United States. It provides innovative cultural and educational exchanges between French and American communities by creating exciting and accessible experiences for New Yorkers.
