DSQUARED2 features mental asylum on Milan FW runway

Canadian brand DSQUARED2 opened the final day of Milan Fashion Week (MFW) with a runway setting reminiscent to a mental health facility, where models walked like psychotic patients remembering their glamorous past, covered by wire caging.

With a nod to 1960s pre-hippie era, the catwalk collection, created by the brand’s founders and twin brother design duo Dean and Dan Caten, included emerald green satin feathered capes, empire lined navy column dresses, mink color-block shifts, glossy green miniskirt suits and some white leather made pieces.

Italian fashion maestro Giorgio Armani stuck to his signature seasonless looks in a gray and black heavy palette for the latest Autumn/Winter 2014 range. Sprinkled with a dash of perky lime green, the line featured column dresses, slouchy ankle revealing wide trousers, silk jumpsuits, collarless coats, single button jackets and classic suits.

Other than his inimitable day and eveningwear pieces, the design veteran also featured an array of stylish accessories such as structured doctor bags, embellished rectangular clutches, textured cloth hobos, lace-ups, dual coloured sandals and pointed shoes.

Stella Jean, the Haitian-Italian womenswear specialist who made her debut at Armani’s emerging designers’ catwalk theatre Teatro Space during MFW’s Spring/Summer 2014-2015 calendar, highlighted the very on-trend animal motifs in her collection. Decorated with carp, rooster and beetle prints, the ensembles included floor-sweeping coats, printed tights crinoline-lined skirts and vibrantly toned tweed and plaid numbers.
