Soles4Souls continues Barefoot Week celebration

Soles4Souls Inc the international charity dedicated to providing free footwear to those in desperate need, announced on Tuesday that it has donated another 65,000 pairs of shoes to people in need, this time to residents of Chicago.
The donation is part of Barefoot Week, a series of nationwide events designed to increase participation with the charity's programs, and features donations of 325,000 pairs of shoes from Soles4Souls to needy people in five U.S. cities.
"This is the second donation of this size that we are making this week alone," said Wayne Elsey, Founder and CEO of Soles4Souls.
"The only way we are able to continue making such donations is because of the shared commitment and dedication of our donors and partners.
We are excited to see so many people embracing our mission as their own, and we want to extend a special thank you to the people who are putting in so much time and effort to make Barefoot Week a creative way for their community to become engaged with our cause," Elsey said.
Other cities that will receive the same number of free shoes include Atlanta, New Orleans, and the Hopi and Navajo Indian Reservations in Arizona.
The shoes are being distributed to people in need with the help of partner agencies familiar with the problems in each city.
