Institute of Apparel Management weaving a new success story

In today's competitive apparel & fashion environment there is scarcity of trained professionals, IAM aims to create a new cadre of management professionals who understand the dynamics of managing apparel industry in post quota as well as in liberalized economy. IAM is committed to prepare its students to excel in diverse fields of the apparel industry including domestic, export & retail segments through an integrated curriculum to provide the apparel industry with steady stream of professionals.

In line with fast paced growth of the global fashion industry, the experts at IAM are creating synergies with the international fashion industry and fostering relationships with prominent fashion and apparel institutions. The institute has signed MoUs / MoAs / Training agreements with six (6) premier institutes of world primarily aimed at
• Designing of curriculum for mutual enrichment & recognition,
• Training of faculty in apparel manufacturing, productivity, quality, merchandising & management
• Exchange of faculty members / students etc

• International Apparel Federation (IAF)
• National Retail Federation (NRF)

MoU between IAM & FLA:
A MoU for offering programmes in areas of CSR from Jan'09 has been signed between IAM and Fair Labor Association (FLA) endeavored to educate on matters of CSR in the management of human resources in apparel and textile production facilities around the world.

Customized Programme for students of 1st batch of IAM at LCF
The institute has signed a training agreement (4 weeks customized programme for students of 1st batch of “Apparel Marketing & Merchandising” students) with London College of Fashion, UK whereas 13 students have attended programme at LCF, UK during May 2008.

A joint programme is being offered by IAM in association with RMIT University, Australia
IAM has announced (admissions 2008) a unique under graduate programme where as eligible candidates (after 10+2) will study first 2 years at IAM campus & one year at RMIT University, Australia. The students will be getting a degree of Bachelor of Applied Science “Fashion & Textiles Merchandising” from RMIT University, Australia.

ROAD AHEAD:
IAM plans to offer customized programmes/management development programmes for working executives of domestic as well as apparel export industry in the various functional areas including understanding of international markets and customers, Business Research ( International & Domestic), Fashion Forecasting, Product Development, Market Strategy, Training of sales staff of retail stores., Merchandise Planning, Illustrations / Quality Assurance, Corporate Social Responsibility, Fashion Merchandising & Feasibility Study for launch of brand/market study etc. Apart from the management programmes, IAM will also have programmes in the functional areas of fashion & apparel design soon.

IAM is soon going to offer programmes from its Mumbai centre. The institute is having discussions with international institutes/universities for initiating student exchange programme for the students of IAM.
