'Sonic Youth' - Strong & functional theme of bluezone

In Munich the bluezone, the international denim meeting at munichfabricstart – pre collections, is gearing itself up for its next event. From 1 to 3 September 2009 55 strong commercial brands from the denim weaving, washing and finishing sector as well as providers of full package services will be discussing at the Zenithhalle with international trade buyers from the denim and sportswear sector on the looks and the market of tomorrow. Alongside initial trends for the A/W 2010/2011 fashion season the focus will, as always, also be on the short-term implementation of “hot” topics.

Once again this time the hall is fully booked and exhibitor structure is stable. “Not only the number of exhibitors but also stand sizes have remained constant,” stressed Managing Director Sebastian Klinder. “The bluezone can be relied upon for its functionality and quality standards.”

Which means also this segment at munichfabricstart – pre collections is all geared up as usual. At the same time, the segment is displaying the same crisis resistance and continuity as the concurrent main fair which is also fully booked again with some 760 exhibitors.

The opportunity to source goods individually and swiftly from suppliers from Japan through to Spain is more important than ever, says the organiser munichfabricstart exhibitions GmbH. Denim manufacturers note to their relief that business has been picking up again since February. Commenting on this Chandrakant Huddar, Deputy General Manager of Sales at Raymond Uco Denim, said: “Business is gradually growing again and we expect this development to continue in the coming months. Denim still sells better than all other ready-to-wear segments.”

Nine new exhibitors underline the appeal of the bluezone and not least its dates in the season. These include Swift Denim from France, full-packaging/ready garment specialist Tismade (F) and Kassim Textiles from Pakistan. With firms like Asterias (TN), Beppetex (I), Bust a nut (D), Consulting Box Denim Services (I), Sapphire Finishing (PK) and Zet (D) the bluezone underlines the Garments & Finishing segment. The hardcore of the Munich denim world remains unchanged with the renowned denim producers Hellenic Fabrics (GR), Orta Anadolu (TR), Italdenim (I), Kurabo Denim and Kuroki from Japan plus Raymond Uco Denim (IND).

Trend Theme for A/W 2010/2011: “Sonic Youth”
The fashion input will be further upgraded and specified with colour and styling themes for the winter season. “Eyes peeled!” advise trend gurus in the bluezone as the season is a melting pot. The A/W 2010/2011 trend theme “Sonic Youth” stands for the antiestablishment movement and individual lifestyle of rebellious youth, vouching for their ideologies. Serving as the inspiration for the new spirit is the band of the same name renouncing rock and pop culture in the early 80s and letting off steam in the no wave, noise-rock and post-punk movements.

Industrial charm is exudedby faded blue, grey and green tones teamed with the strong nuances of the original "bleu de Nîmes". Technical, metallised surface textures provide partial reflexes. Protest looks meet authentic factory styles.
