Department of Export Promotion capitalizes on the interplay of textiles and fashion wears industry in order to form the strategic alliances with partners around the world, pursuing push and pull strategies, getting ready for the ASEAN class BIFF & BIL 2009.

Mr.Suchai Pornsirikul, Chairman of Textile Merchants Association said “In fact, most garment and textile industries in ASEAN use Thailand for sourcing because we have a strong strategic position. We are the center for cross-border export in the region. We are fully backed by manufacturing logistics. We are well-equipped with raw materials, labour, distribution system, and ever-ready stocks to deliver to the customers upon order.”

“This is why we, the Textile Merchants Association, is ready for new challenges. And the more co-operation we have with other associations, the stronger our industry will grow. We are now working with the Bangkok Fashion Society. They design, we sell. Each association will share and combine our strengths. Thai textile, Thai designer, Thai fashion. That is the way we will grow in the international markets,”

Mr.Sukij Kongpiyacharn, Vice President of Thai Garment Manufacturers Association, also agreed with the need to create new markets.

“Despite the economic situations now, we still need to move forward to answer our customers' needs. If the Japanese buyers want different textiles or tailoring, for example, then we will be offering exactly that in our fair. For we will be organising the Bangkok International Fashion Fair & Bangkok International Leather Fair 2009 (BIFF & BIL 2009) during August 13-16 as an international trade fair, they can find everything they want.”
