Yohji Yamamoto & Adidas co-create Real Madrid jersey

The Japanese couturier and design revolutionary Yohji Yamamoto and the German sportswear specialist Adidas have come together to create an exclusive collection that embodies the spirit of the reigning football club of Europe, Real Madrid.
The 70-year-old design veteran has created a unique black coloured jersey with a special artwork reflecting the glorious legacy of the esteemed Spanish soccer club and its star players for the Real Madrid Club de Fútbol.
Through the creation, which is available for purchase at select Adidas, Y-3, Yohji Yamamoto and Real Madrid stores, the master couturier has envisioned a heroic story of the contemporary footballers as modern-day heroes, achieving mythical status through continued victory.
The strictly 1400 limited-edition pieces are adorned with an original canvas painting of a fabled beast-like creature that looks like both dragon, which stands for strength, determination and power, and bird, which symbolizes speed, agility and cunningness—all qualities demonstrated by the club’s star players.
Replete with Henley-style collar, Yamamoto’s personal signature and Adidas’ iconic Performance logo, classic three stripes and adizero technology, the jerseys are made using an ultra light fabric which enhances breathability while allowing unparalleled freedom of movement and comfort without compromising elasticity and durability.
In addition to the exclusive pieces, the collection also offers traditional jerseys inspired by Yamamoto’s work for men, women and children.
