Modell's selects Symbol's MC9000-G mobile to improve productivity

Sporting Goods retailer Modell's Sporting Goods picked up Symbol Technologies Inc software for warehouse operation.
Symbol Technologies Inc, The Enterprise Mobility Company, and Sentinel Business Solutions, a Symbol Premier Business Partner, announced Modell's Sporting Goods, America's oldest family-owned and operated sporting goods and apparel retailer, selected Symbol's enterprise mobility architecture to enhance store and warehouse operations, and improve productivity at more than 130 stores and its main distribution facility.
Modell's selected Symbol's rugged and versatile MC9000-G mobile computer, which can be used both on the store floor and in the warehouse environment, to reduce the level of worker training needed. The MC9000-G features a bright screen display and full-shift battery life, enabling Modell's staff to wirelessly manage receiving, store-to-store transfers and price verification applications from anywhere in the store.
"The Symbol mobility platform with Sentinel's enterprise mobility training and services, will maximize our supply chain efficiency and provide us with a competitive edge," said Hans Kantor, chief information officer for Modell's. "Our sales associates will also be empowered to enhance their productivity by maintaining optimum product levels in each store so that customers are better served. The MC9000-G will also be utilized to provide Mobile POS (point of sale) to address peak seasonal quick check out needs."
