Nanotechnologies in the centre of EU Parliament's attention

On Monday September 18th, the First Czech cosmonaut Vladimír Remek visited Elmarco Company Ltd, a world leader in the field of nanofibrous product development and production of industrial devices using Nanospider technology.

"One of the aims of the European Parliament is the support of modern technologies, where nanofibers also belong" explained a member of European Parliament (MEP) for the Czech Republic.

The Company Director, Ing. Ladislav Mareš, has shown Vladimír Remek and Prof. Oldrich Jirsák from the Technical University in Liberec (TUL) around the company.

Elmarco cooperates with TUL in the nanotechnologies development very tightly. Ladislav Mares and MEP Remek were dealing about application possibilities of new production from nanofibers in the Czech Republic as well in the whole world.

"Untill now, we have been financing our research and development from company investments that made several tens of millions of Czech crown. Nowadays we find access to investments for financing on further research and development with the help of support funds of the European Union, for example Structural funds.

"Without help from our state or the European Union we would not able to manage." Ladilav Mareš says.

Neither Vladimír Remek nor Ladislav Mareš mention concrete conclusions of the Vladimír Remek´s visit. "Using the sales terminology, no contract was signed but we have discussed several possibilities of application where nanofibers could have a valuable contribution, for example within the textile production intended (designated) for automotive or space programs with the held of the European Spaces Agency (ESA).
