Bangladesh recently urged the United States to provide duty-free access to its products in its market and invited more US investment in the country. The request was made by state minister for foreign affairs Mohammad Shahriar Alam while participating in a meeting of a group of South Asian ministers with US deputy secretary of state Wendy Sherman in New York last week.

In the meeting, Alam highlighted the social and economic progress achieved by Bangladesh even during the COVID-19 situation and discussed the climate challenges being faced by his country and other nations and the pioneering role played by Dhaka in addressing these challenges, a Bangladesh foreign ministry press release said.

Sherman assured him of working further closely with Bangladesh in the future.
