Hearts@work foundation celebrated International Yoga Day 2017 in style by giving a strong message on health as well as environment protection which is an important part of overall health and peace of mind. Hearts@work organised a programme at Dr SS & S Ghandhy College of Engineering and Technology, Surat, which was followed by tree plantation programme.

As part of the tree plantation programme at the college campus, 850 trees and 250 bottle plants were planted by the joint efforts of Hearts@work volunteers, college students and college staff. Viral Sudhirbhai Desai founder of Hearts@work, the young and dynamic CEO of Zenitex announced to plant more than 5,000 trees in the coming months at the SS & S Gandhy campus.

The choice of plants planned by the foundation was also unique and meaningful as they have chosen plants which are 4 ft to 8 ft in height and already nurtured in the plants’ nursery for a minimum of 2-3 years. This would help them grow faster and add greenery to the campus very soon. The choice of the campus for plantation was an apt decision as Ghandhy college campus being centrally located can bring huge change to the climate of the city as well.

The foundation has pledged to plant maximum trees possible. The pledge was taken last year on June 5 (World Environment Day) during the launch of the “Clean India - Green India” initiative under the leadership of Viral Desai. They planted more than 8,000 trees last year. Desai inaugurated biggest green wall at Zenitex compound this year. On June 5, 2017 (world Environment Day) Viral Desai has pledged that he will keep on planting trees for the rest of his life, so tree plantation will be an integral part and project of Hearts@work.

According to Viral Desai, tree plantation is easiest way to fight pollution and global warming; and the best way to keep ourselves happy and healthy. His Vision is that, “When we celebrate festivals or even birthdays, we should celebrate them by planting trees or gifting plants to each other.” This he believes would be the best and meaningful way of celebration.

Viral Desai further believes that if textile entrepreneurs initiate and volunteer causes like this then it will set a new benchmark for Indian textile industry on global level.

Principal of the college, NA Sangani also applauded the initiative taken up by the foundation. Professor Pavan Panwala coordinated the entire event for the college. Other dignitaries like Bharat Shah and Balubhai Patel from NGO Chhanyado were also present and encouraged the work done by the Hearts@work. Naturopath, environmentalist and ayurvedic doctor Ramond Parabia also took part in this activity and gave insights about usefulness of different plants. He also will be an active consultant for section of species to Hearts@Work for all future plantation drives.

This type of tree plantation drives is an encouraging sign for the future and should motivate others to come forward and do their part or join organisations as such.
