Andhra Pradesh government has urged the Centre to speed up the process of establishing the proposed naphtha cracker plant at Visakhapatnam's Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR).
State Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has written to Union Petroleum Minister S Jaipal Reddy saying that the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation was developing necessary infrastructure facilities, as the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) planned to establish a naphtha cracker plant in PCPIR.
The Krishna-Godavari basin of the State has abundance of resources. As such, establishment of the naphtha plant is essential to tap these resources and to develop PCPIR as the country's east-coast's hub, the Chief Minister said.
He promised to extend all support for execution of the project and for developing the necessary infrastructure for the same.
