Construction of Azerbaijan's biggest dyeing unit begins

The work of developing Azerbaijan's biggest dyeing unit has started in Aras Free Trade Zone (FTZ), Iraj Hatami, Deputy Head of the Aras FTZ Organization has announced.

On completion of the construction of the dyeing unit, each day around 100 tons of fibres and yarn would be dyed, Mr. Hatami said.

He stated that a liquid effluent treatment plant would also be constructed in vicinity of a textile unit established by Turkish investors in the FTZ situated in the north-western province in the Eastern part of the country.

He added that the wastewater treatment plant is going to meet the international standards and would be capacitated to recycle 2,500 tons of effluents a day.

He said that the textile factory, the first phase of which became functional towards end part of the last Iranian year that concluded on March 20, now produces eight tons of yarn per day by employing 180 workers.

He further observed that pilot study for execution of the second phase of the project, which is intended to be completed in 10 phases, is in progress.

Once all the 10 phases of the project become operational, the textile unit is expected to generate around 27,000 jobs and bring in foreign exchange worth one billion USD every year, he added.
