Wool market a little quieter

British Wool Marketing Board released third British Wool Sale reports. The third British Wool Sale of the 2011/12 Season was held by the British Wool Marketing Board at Wool House and offered 1,269,799 kilos.

Due to the european summer holidays, the market was a little quieter today, with prices easing slightly compared to the previous sale.

The clearance was 59%.

Compared to the last time sold:

• Halfbreds 1.5 - 3% cheaper
• Crosses 1.5 - 2.5% cheaper
• Light Grey Radnors Sellers Favour other Radnors 1.5 - 3.5% cheaper
• Welsh 2% cheaper
• Cheviots 1.5 - 2.5% dearer
• Blackface Firm

A farmer run organisation, the BWMB was established in 1950 to operate a central marketing system for UK fleece wool, with the aim of achieving the best possible net return for producers.

It is the only organisation in the world that collects, grades, sells and promotes fleece wool and the only remaining agricultural commodity board in the UK.
