Sharp rise in textile machinery exports; India top importer

Exports of textile machinery from China witnessed a sharp rise of 39.12 percent to US$ 0.87 billion during initial five months of the current calendar year over corresponding period last year, according to China's Customs statistics.

India was the top importer of Chinese textile machinery worth US$ 0.22 billion during the review period, registering a year-on-year rise of 77.91 percent. It accounted for 24.73 percent of the overall Chinese textile machinery exports.

During initial five months of the current year, China shipped its textile machinery to 151 countries and regions. Japan, Indonesia, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh together accounted for 51.36 percent of overall Chinese textile machinery exports.

Exports of knitting machinery topped the machinery export charts during the review period, as its export value grew to US$ 0.27 billion, registering a year-on-year rise of 53.96 percent. It accounted for 30.93 percent of overall machinery exports.

There was also a rise in exports of dyeing and finishing machinery, chemical fibre machinery, auxiliary equipment and spare parts, weaving machinery, spinning machinery, weaving preparation machinery and non-woven machinery.

Percentage wise, non-woven machinery exports witnessed highest year-on-year rise of 141.23 percent during the January to May period of the current year.
