Damodar Threads – Apt at mixing business & CSR

Aditya is too modest to share any achievement. He credits the entire family for the success of whatever they have achieved till date.

Other than the textile business, the Biyani family has turned passionate about saving on the verge of extinction, the 'Gir' cow. It all started with a single cow which came to them by accident, is now a herd of more than 100 cows and has now become a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Damodar Threads.

The Biyani's believe that one of the best bounties of nature is the 'Gir' breed of cows especially for the unique health benefits that they provide. Often ignored due to their low milking capacity, these Indian breed of cows are increasingly moving towards extinction.

The benefits provided by the 'Gir' cow have been a subject of deep research and knowledge that is also now very well scientifically reasoned, understood and documented. The nutrient and beneficial values that are embedded in the various 'Panchgavya' products of Gir breed cows are incomparable.

The family is also working towards interpreting and reviving India's traditional knowledge, blended with modern bio-technological tools and medical science to bring a range of products derived from the Gir breed of cows that keeps one healthy, forever youthful and wise.

A visit to the farm housing the cowshed is an experience by itself. The Biyani family has adopted modern methods to manage the cowshed. The cowshed is neat and clean, with cows segregated by their ages in separate enclosures. Soothing music plays in the background to keep the cows and calves calm.

Each cow has been adopted by a member of the Biyani family and has a name. Aditya even knows the names of most of the cows. His favourite is – Prince. The milk from the cows is turned in to curds, which in turn is turned in to girth. The girth has nutritional and medicinal properties and helps in resolving health problems related to the heart and joint pains.

Aditya explains by saying. “The milk, urine or cow dung has excellent properties. We have turned to the vedic scriptures and are now trying to popularize various by-products made from these like, girth, dhoot batti, gau ark, etc.

His mantra for success – Have the best human resources. 20 percent of your efforts deliver 80 percent results. So identify the 20 percent and concentrate on it.

His parting words to other young leaders – Keep yourself updated on the latest information and news related to the textile industry. This will keep you one step ahead of others.
