The 18th ‘Fashion & Textile Exhibition 2013’, considered the most important event for the textile industry in the Baltics, will be held in Riga, the capital of the Northern European nation of Latvia, from 19th to 21st April, 2013.

The textile exhibition, formerly known as ‘Intertextile Balticum’, will help in facilitating exchange of information, as well as establishing international business relations amongst leading textile enterprises.

Alongside the fair, an international conference will also be organized to promote growth in the textile industry. Among other things, the conference will also discuss technological advancement, environmental issues and ways to increase the use of natural and eco-friendly fabrics.

The event will additionally host the popular competition called ‘Habitas Baltija’, which aims to encourage young fashion designers from all over the world. The contest brings together various young and seasoned fashion designers, representatives of fashion design schools and other fashion industry professionals from the Baltic States, UK, Russia and the Nordic region.

The fair will be organized by the ‘International Exhibition Company BT 1’, and will be supported by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia, the Association of Textile and Clothing Industries and the Diplomatic Economic Club.

Last year the exhibition was attended by around 179 participants from 11 countries –Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Italy, India, Russia, China, Belarus, Finland, Spain and the host Latvia.
